Description:

In a fuel cell system, hydrogen enters the stack anode to participate in the reaction after pressure reduction from the storage system. The hydrogen pressure at the stack inlet needs to be controlled within a precise range: too low a pressure affects the stack power output, while too high a pressure may damage the proton exchange membrane and membrane electrode assembly, seriously affecting stack life. The pressure relief valve (safety valve) is the key safety protection device preventing stack overpressure.

The HSXYF series mechanical pressure relief valve is installed in the stack hydrogen inlet pipeline. Its core function is: when the stack inlet hydrogen pressure exceeds the set safety value, the relief valve opens automatically, discharging the excess hydrogen to the tailpipe, so that the stack inlet pressure quickly falls back within the safe range; when the pressure returns to normal, the relief valve automatically closes and reseats, ensuring normal system operation. This purely mechanical automatic response mechanism requires no external power supply or control signal and has extremely high reliability.

The HSXYF series uses a mechanical spring type structure. The working principle is: the valve spool remains closed under the preload of the spring. When the pressure acting on the spool from the inlet hydrogen exceeds the spring preload, the spool is pushed open and hydrogen is discharged through the relief port; when the pressure drops below the reseating pressure, the spring force pushes the spool back to the closed position.

The product offers a rich selection of configurations; the cracking pressure (100~300kPa gauge) can be selected according to the pressure requirements of different stack systems. The flow bore offers two specifications, 5.5mm and 8mm. The body material offers SUS304 stainless steel and 6061-T6 aluminum alloy; the aluminum alloy housing is lighter (40~60g), while the stainless steel housing is more corrosion-resistant (about 200g).

The product offers multiple interfaces, flexibly selectable according to customer needs. The protection class is IP67, meeting harsh vehicle waterproof and dustproof requirements. The working temperature range covers -35C~105C, adapting to extreme climate conditions. The flow resistance is <=2kPa, with minimal impact on the system hydrogen supply pressure.

Fuel Cell Mechanical Pressure Relief Valve HSXYF Series 5-300kW 100-300kPa Adjustable IP67Applications:

This product is widely used in the hydrogen path of various proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) systems, specifically including:

  • Hydrogen fuel commercial vehicles (heavy trucks, city buses, logistics vehicles, cold-chain logistics vehicles)
  • Hydrogen fuel passenger vehicles (sedans, SUVs)
  • Stationary fuel cell power stations (backup power, distributed energy systems)
  • Hydrogen fuel cell ships
  • Fuel cell forklifts and port material handling equipment
  • Fuel cell system test benches

Typical application position: installed in the stack hydrogen inlet pipeline; automatically opens to relieve pressure when the hydrogen pressure exceeds the set value, protecting stack safety. The relief bore of the relief valve should meet the relief demand of the fuel cell stack at the safe pressure.

FAQ

Q1: Can you provide samples for testing?
A: Yes, we support sample orders for vehicle installation testing and performance verification, and also accept mixed-model sample orders.

Q2: What is the delivery lead time?
A: Sample orders usually take 5-7 working days; bulk orders (depending on order quantity) generally take 15-30 working days.

Q3: Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ) limit?
A: 10-piece sample trial orders are supported, and bulk order prices are more favorable.

Q4: Why does a fuel cell system need a pressure relief valve (safety valve)?
A: The stack inlet hydrogen pressure needs to be controlled within a precise range: too low a pressure affects power output, while too high a pressure may damage the proton exchange membrane and membrane electrode assembly. The role of the relief valve is to automatically open to relieve pressure when the stack inlet hydrogen pressure exceeds the safe value, keeping the hydrogen pressure within a safe range and protecting stack life.

Q5: What is the working principle of the relief valve?
A: The HSXYF series uses a mechanical spring type structure. The valve spool remains closed under the spring preload. When the inlet hydrogen pressure exceeds the spring preload, the spool is pushed open and hydrogen is discharged through the relief port; when the pressure drops below the reseating pressure, the spring force pushes the spool back to the closed position. The whole process is purely mechanical response with no external power supply.

Q6: What is the cracking pressure of the relief valve?
A: The cracking pressure can be selected within the range of 100~300kPa gauge.

Q7: What flow bores are available?
A: Two specifications, 5.5mm and 8mm.

Q8: What is the difference between the aluminum alloy and stainless steel housing?
A: The aluminum alloy housing is lighter (HSXYF-6211 about 40g, HSXYF-621L about 60g), suitable for weight-sensitive applications; the stainless steel housing is more corrosion-resistant (HSXYF-421L about 200g), suitable for corrosive environments.

Q9: What are the installation requirements?
A: Vertical installation is recommended. The relief bore should meet the relief demand of the fuel cell stack at the safe pressure.

Q10: How to handle product failures?
A: We implement a strict quality control system, with an out-of-factory defect rate below 0.2%. During the warranty period, small batches of defective products will be replaced with new ones in the next order; batch quality problems will be negotiated for repair or replacement to ensure customer rights.
